Wows Coming!

The Perseid Meteor Shower will show off in a big way tonight. Be sure to get out and watch the wanders of heaven! How cool it will be to take the pickup truck out beyond the city lights and just marvel at the streams of light coming from the night sky.

August 21 will be the first total solar eclipse since 1979! In east Tennessee where I grew up there will be 100% visibility. People are actually renting out their houses to folks who are coming in just to see this event. Here in southern New Mexico our visibility is around 62% but it will still be very cool. It will peak here at 11:46 am.

Cool stuff is happening in the skies. Right in the middle of these hot dog days of summer, God has planned a light show to entertain and inspire us.

One not so cool event that may show up in the sky would be if North Korea decides to follow through with its threats to shoot missiles toward Guam. We have responded to their threats with our own "fire and fury." "Pride comes before a fall." How cool it would be if our governments would just quit all the hating and decide to get along. We could be of great help to one another. We could watch the events in heaven that God has scheduled. Wouldn't that be cool?

Psalm 2:1-6

1 Why do the nations conspire[a] and the peoples plot in vain? 2 The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying, 3 “Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.”

4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. 5 He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, 6 “I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.”

It seems to me that regardless of what happens in these dog days of summer our God is so much bigger than the egos of men. He holds us in His hands and reminds us that it is He who sits on the throne.
